  1. I have lived here all my life and i love it!

  2. I've been to Ireland about 16 times. I love it there! Its a gordgeous country, well I've only been to Dublin, Wexford, Enniskerry and Newry but.....I dont know.... ITS GREAT!

  3. I lived in Ireland for 14 years.I absolutely loved living there. My husband and children and I only intended to come back to Australia for a year to look after my elderly grandmother, but my husband and children have fallen in love with Australia and don't want to go back home, where is I would go back to live in Ireland in a heart beat as I loved the lifestyle over there.

  4. living here all my life its okay like anywhere not always great....living about a mile from enniskerry drey.....

  5. I Live in Ireland and it is brilliant, it has a very young population so the nightlife is great, the current craze is "Nirvana Headshops", they supply safer alternatives to illicit drugs, it is becomming a little like Amsterdam.

The economy is booming and has continued to grow for the last ten or so years, the medical care is c**p so don't ever get sick and you will love Ireland (and Nirvana headshops)

  6. I live in Ireland...it's a great place...wouldn't live anywhere else.

  7. I lived in Limerick for 6 months as a student and loved it.  It's a beautiful country, there's tons to see and the quality of live is excellent.  Socialized medicine, free university for students, GREAT pubs and plenty of jobs when I was there.

We talked about moving there but the quarantine laws to bring dogs over were very strict.  (6 months in a kennel).

It's also a great jumping off point for any travel to Europe.

  8. I visited Ireland six years ago, and my brother currently lives in County Cork.

Of course, the culture is different, as with any other country, and it's beautiful.  I envy the amount of days off they get per year.  Nearly 25 vacation days, 6 months paid maternity leave, and many bank holidays!

I'm sorry I can't give you more insight, but visit the country before making any final decisions to live there :)

  9. I spent my entire life up till now (age 22) thinking I wanted to live in Ireland. I was completely obsessed. So last summer I went through a work abroad program for students and lived and worked in Killarney. It was a nightmare, my landlady was mentally ill, my boss and co-workers were so mean to me that they made my cry and I quit on the spot. Everything in Ireland is so dirty, even the "Tidy Towns" have trash just thrown everywhere, it's disgusting. Yes, the landscape is beautiful, and I was living in one of the most beautiful areas of the country, but after awhile I could have cared less. Everywhere I went people were unpleasant, it was so depressing. Something about the Irish people has changed since they got the Euro. It's really weird. I would suggest doing a summer work abroad program before you make any long term commitments.

  10. I have lived in Ireland for the past 3 years.

    I liked my job.

And now I'm moving out of here. It;s a lovely place to see and visit and travel, and to live for a while. But in certain cases it just does not work out. I'm from EU but not Irish, and married to an American. After one year of paperwork and fight, my husband still cannot work here. I can't afford the life here - the salaries are way lower than what you would get in US or in UK. Rents and food are expensive. With a professional job, all I could afford here was a room (one) for us, shared with a bunch of other people. Ireland is breaking the residency laws of EU .. if you are not married, or for any other reason can avoid all the visa problems, it is way nicer.

For a young person though - I'd say TRY. It can be a very lovely place to live, at least for a while. You won;t know until you try. I liked it here.
