Has anyone lived through a Volcanic eruption?

Where there any close calls

Volcanologists, would you do it again? how do I put this.. keep on doing what you are doing regardless of your traumatic experiences?

Did anybody here quit their profession or moved to a safer area of your profession because of a traumatic volcano experience?

How close have you gotten to lava?

Most of the answers you have received are absolutely atrocious and uncalled for.  

I personally never lived through a volcanic eruption.  Hopefully, when I start studying them I will not experience some of the things that I have read about or heard from some friends of mine that are in the volcanology field.  

A friend of mine Ronda H from USGS was studying Mt Pinatubo in 1991 when it went up.  When she told me of her experience, it did make me think a little harder before I go into this field.  She tells me that it is all about the respect.  If you want to read about a good story of a volcanologist.  I suggest you read about DAVID ALEXANDER JOHNSTON

I swam through lava everyday to get to school, then trudged 5 miles in the snow on the way home.

That is a good question, though.  I honestly don't think anyone could survive lava, since it's hot molten magma and all.....

i am a scientist and I was at mount helen hand was burned and had to have my legs amputated but before that i was in hawaii and a very close friend was burned alive in front of me he screamed and blood splattered out of his mouth he asked for his mom and then lit on fire screaming high pitched and his eyes swelled up and bursted open and juice spewed out my life is horrible i live in a rehabilitation house!
