  1. Yes, we did that.  We bought the flowers at a flower shop that had wholesale prices available to the public and that gave us a good price.  We were on a shoestring budget and couldn't afford a florist.  We used white, pink and sterling silver roses mixed with dark greenery and baby's breath.  It wasn't easy and it was time consuming, but in the end, it was nice.  In retrospect, I think I should have chosen one flower that's a good filler, and pretty to mix in with the roses that is a lot less expensive than roses to create a fuller bouquet.  You have to use floral tape and wire to give the stems body and shape.  I have no doubt that there have to be a bunch of websites you can Google that will give you instructions you can follow as to how to do that.

We also rented equipment from a party rental place for our wedding, candelabras, white string lights, I bought some tulle at fabric store and wrapped the lights around it.  Our one splurge was on our cake which cost us $250.  We had a cake and champagne reception.

    CHIMING IN:

What we did was we stayed up the night before our wedding, believe it or not, and did the flower arrangements so that they wouldn't have time to wither, and then stored them in the refrigerator overnight.  Of course, I'd be lying if I said we weren't a tad wiped the next day.

  2. if u have a garden ridge in ur area they sell real and fake flowers that are amazing looking. that's where i got my fakes that are still in my closet. fakes are easier to maneuver. congrats!

  3. i was a bridesmaid in my sister in laws wedding and she made her own bouquets too. so that the flowers wouldn't dry out wither, she used fake flowers from walmart. you can also get them at like hobby lobby or another craft store. her wedding color was lavender, so they were purple and white flowers tied with a purple and white ribbon. they were perfect. my brother and her were on a set budget so they did that instead of buying real flowers. it was a great idea and i still have my bouquet as a memory, a keepsake, which is a plus!
