Has anyone modeled before and was it worth it?

Question

People are always coming up to me and telling me that I should model. I am only 15 and I am scared to do it. I want to speak to people that have done it, how would I get started and do they regret it?

I also have a friend who modeled and she says it was awful.  She went to great places and didn't get to see or do anything fun, she was yelled at in a variety of languages, she was constantly told what she was doing was wrong, etc.  She didn't have anorexia, but she did take Phen/Fen to stay skinny.  And she didn't make much money at it.
