  1. yes 8 months texas 6 1/2 years kansas

  2. i moved to spain 18 months ago and it is fantastic. wouldnt come back to uk for love nor money

  3. I moved to America, and lived in Pittsburgh for four years.  A great experience.  Missed the footy and cricket from home; but became a mad, avid Penguins fan.

Learnt to make smores, sloppy joes, and eat chili dogs.  Also discovered the "joy" (sarcasm) of digging my car out from underneath 3-feet of snow before going to work.  That sucked!  I rugged-up so much, I look like the Michelin Man!  LOL.

I had a ball.  Block parties; barbecuing outside and eating inside (weird!); and especially watching the raccoons terrorising the neighbourhood cats and kicking over trash cans.

I have also lived in Russia and Singapore.  Living overseas was brilliant; and I am a much better person for the experience.

  4. Yeah, Saudi Arabia for three years. Lived like a King, but I hated it. The place was smelly and the Arabs hated us.

  5. Yes! I moved to Schweinfurt, Germany to be near my sister & her husband who was in the Army (U.S.) at the time. She was pregnant and he was shipped to Bosnia while she was preggers. I went to keep her company and found a job within 6 weeks working for the Dept. of State in a (school age) child care center. I was hired as a civilian worker (meaning no relation to anyone in the army).

I stayed for 1 1/2 years and used my earnings to travel to several countries, including Germany, Italy, Holland, France, Poland, Czech Republic and Switzerland. I was lucky to have a free place to live (with my sis). I would do it again if I was still single. It takes some getting used to to be in a foreign country without knowing anyone or the language, but if you are brave you can handle it. I even got separated from my group when I went to Amsterdam for a day and spent the entire day alone it that city and was ok. I was offered drugs by a hoodlum but I still made it out ok. I came home after 1 1/2 years and loved that time over there. Little by little you'll learn the languages, at least enough for the most important things like money & where's the restroom!

If you go, you have to keep an open mind about everything, and remind yourself...You are an american in a foreign country - you are  a guest - make yourself at home & try to fit in. Some foreigners hate americans, so keep that to yourself. And remember also, when in Rome, do as the Romans do! That little phrase will help you discover new adventures and have a great time! When you can boogy with the locals you'll have a blast! Hanging with locals might even get you to experience things you wouldn't experience as an american tourist. And finally, europeans are genuinely friendly & a lot of them speak English, so you'll never be completely alone over there.

  6. if wales counts then yeah, not good, my sister moved to france and is now comin back, its hard to not have your network of friends and family

  7. I've been living in Italy for about 8 years and love it. The people & food are great, work is interesting, and it's easy to get around on the trains to explore Italy and the rest of Europe. There are a lot of budget airlines here, so prices for flights aren't bad.

There are frequent events like local festivals, concerts, etc. There was a spring festival here last Sunday and a flower festival next Sunday. I'd highly recommend it to people who are interested in experiencing different cultures.
