I have, and I called the irs back in April to change my address but am still very skeptical about receiving it. I have yet to receive a letter. My last # 76, so by the chart I should receive it soon. Anyone in my same situation?

  1. The stimulus check will be sent to the address on the return.  They won't change it.

What you need to do, is go to your post office, and make certain you have a forwarding order on file with them.  Then anything addressed to you at your old address will be forwarded to your new one.

  2. I'm in the same group, July 4, and haven't got my letter yet either, and I've lived the same place since 1973, so I wouldn't worry about it.

  3. When you called IRS your address WAS changed on their system, no need to file a change of address by mail (like the others are telling you)

Check IRS website stimulus calculator to make sure you qualify and when the payment is schedule to be mailed.

IRS is behind in getting to rebate issued due to high volume of returns and with the stimulus all returns from 2002 thru 2006 had to be filed, if a person was not in full compliance then IRS would hold the refund and rebate. This caused delay's in everyones rebates.

  4. An address change takes 30 days in their 30 yr old computers (that Congress won't spend to replace). Did you call in time? If not fill out a Mail Hold card at the old post office before your mailing date and then just go back to pick it up.

Ensure your name is on or inside your mailbox. A Substitute mailman is not allowed to leave the check otherwise. Returned as undeliverable takes 30 days for re-mailing.

  5. yea

  6. You can not accomplish an address change with a phone call.  You must file a written and signed IRS form 8822 (link below will provide one) with the IRS.  They also suggest that you change your address with the Post Office.  I did both and have a SS# in the group one week before you.  I got my letter at the new address last week.  I will not expect a check for at least another week.  The current advise from the IRS is to wait 6 weeks from your scheduled mailing date and than call 1-866-234-2942.
