Sorry guys that I haven't been around lately our teams been really slow and not having any investigations lol... Michigan is now full of a lot of groups and most just do it for fun which really bothers me and it gets to the point where you start to question just how many serious teams are there and most of them are not familiar with terms or studies they take most of there information off tv... Our team is starting to take a break until some cases come in :( I really enjoy helping people out but the fact that all these teams are coming abroad is just ridiculous cause they want a tv show or they think they can do it ya know? you all know my story of why i started the paranormal to help people and if not and you are interested email me and i will share with you, has anyone else noticed these teams starting just for fun and providing non sense to the paranormal community?

  1. Its an unfortunate side effect to the paranormal becoming more "main stream".  Teams are popping up all over here in Texas too.  Some of them are the real deal, others are what I like to call "grave stompers".  Everything is real to them, they have delusional expectations as to what happens on an investigation, and so on because of their former life as arm chair investigators.

We've gone through interview after interview trying to find new team members.  Most of them are like this to begin with or turn out that way later on and quit because ever single stinking case doesn't produce mounds of evidence and full body apparitions.

So, no its not just Michigan, its the whole paranormal community.  Our team is actually getting more cases because of it.  People will email or call teams, set up cases, and then the teams will never show or get back to them.  Its horrible and unprofessional and makes us all look bad.

  2. I would like to hear the story of how you had gotten started. Also, it would tell me whether you can be taken seriously as an investigator unlike most of the people here.

Oh and everyone has to start somewhere, so lighten up on the newcomers. Though it must get annoying that they kind of make your job look like a joke.

  3. no team is going to investigate just as another would.  All teams are made up of indiviuals who have different opinions, protocols and areas of expertise.

I can agree that there are a lot of people who go out unprepared and inexperienced and get in over their heads fast.( not that they would ever admit that) and they put evidence out there for others to see that obviously is not paranormal in nature.

But by no means would I let that sort of thing stop me from continuing to investigate.....

  4. Ryan..Welcome Back!! I wondered what happened to you!

I don't know about the paranormal community...except on here. Sometimes I wish the scientists on here would get more serious about finding substantial answers for the things that happen to us.(if they're not paranormal). Maybe some people in the investigative communities are really skeptics at heart. Maybe that's why they're making a joke of it or using it for financial profit.

  5. Sure stay right here on YA and watch it for yourself.

Some people just like to see their words in print not provide any information to anyone. Many groups that are thrill seeking are the same way only wanting the experience not caring to gather information or help people (again as seen right here on YA).

  6. Yes, they are popping up all around this area. There was only 1 besides us and now there are 5 that I know of. I'm concerned that they may give the rest of us a bad name. Maybe not. I hope not.

  7. Hey Ryan, long time no hear. Very few Paranormal investigators want to help people. As you and I have talked about before, most people are just out for a scare or to see ghosts everywhere in everything. That or they try to claim they are actual scientists trying to document ghosts to prove to the skeptic world ghosts exist.

There is nothing wrong with this hobby, but I find it disturbing that way too many people are trying to make themselves appear to be legitimate scientists. But then they have day jobs. Actually I prefer to see the trend going toward just having fun because one of these days a lawsuit is inevitable due to the many people declaring themselves research scientist professionals but then go to jobs during the day as normal everyday people.

  8. i've seen some real nonsense investigators in my time...it disgusts me! why can't they just stop mocking us paranormal investigators? we're here to help people because they're really scared of the paranormal!

  9. The TV shows make it look so easy, like you can go out with just a few pieces of equipment and a few friends.  You rarely see them set up baseline readings for rooms or the buildings they investigate.  They also get too much information about a buildings past before investigating, some times right down to a supposed apparition's name.  Then almost every episode has some kind of startling "proof" that truthfully should be considered ambiguous or inconclusive at best.  Not to mention the grabass and tom-foolery that they do to liven up the show.  They just kind of make the whole thing less scientific even if they make claims of being debunkers, and armchair investigators think it looks like fun and want to do it themselves.  That would be great, assuming they are willing to do their homework, read up on the subject, and are willing to consider other possible causes.

  10. Paranormal investigation isn't a science.  What makes you think you are so much better than someone else?  And how do you know that these other groups aren't also helping people.  You sound a little upset that other people are muscling in on what you consider to be your territory.
