Has anyone on here been 16 and gotten a tattoo with parental consent?

Because I turn 16 in February and my Mom offered to go with me if it isn't oo expensive. I mean I can definately wait the two and a half years, but I was just wondering if anyone had gone with their parents. I do plan on one day having a full sleeve of MEANINGFUL tattoo's, but I'd like to start with a nautical star on my right forearm. Not too big, but not microscopic either. If anyone cares the nautical star is meaningful to me because I've always been fascinated by stars, and I know that a lot of punk rockers and bi-sexuals [not saying that everyone that has them is a bi-sexual or punk rocker] have them, and I fit into both categories.

  1. It depends on where you stay as different places have different laws & regulations on body modifications.  Although personally I think it's right that most places are 18 with or without parental consent.   A tattoo is a big thing, I got my first one when I was 15 & I SO wish Id waited & gone to a reputable place that didn't just tattoo anyone with no regards for age as long as you were paying.   Best advice is wait till your 18, find a reputable place with good feedback THEN get your tattoo hun

  2. I got my first tattoo when I was 14 or 15 with parental consent. Where you get your tattoo is up to you, but keep in mind that any job you get in the future will more than likely require you to keep it covered while you're at work. That's why all three of mine are in easy-to-hide locations (ankle, hip, shoulder blade).

  3. i think if ur mature enough then u are fine to get a tattoo at this age.. personally i love nautical stars, i have 5 going all the way up my spine.. if it has meaning to you then there is no issue..

i was 16 when i got my first tattoo, it was a lower back tribal design, and i love it still to this day.. i got 6 more tattoos before i was 18 and have never regreted any of them, but not everyone is this lucky..

maybe it was because my mum is a tattoo artist, she was more cool with it..

sorry to hear about your hip..

your idea about the black outline sounds awesome, i think this will turn into a beautiful tattoo when your finished :)

i dont think there is anything wrong with underage ink if the person is in the right frame of mind etc..

    think b4 u ink

    xo

  4. I am 16, and have gotten 2 tattoos WITH my parent's consent.

I would like to add, that people are saying wait until you are 18!!, well, what the c**p is the difference if you wanted to get one at 14, and decided to wait until you were 16, so you had 2 years to make the right decision?!?!? 16 to 18 is the same amount of time, the ONLY difference is that you don't need parental consent at 18. You have NOT matured anymore than how you were at 16.

Just make the right decision. Will you still like this star in 10 years.??

  5. omg that sounds like a great idea! when you're older it will symbolize the troubles you went through. I LOVE IT!

  6. Yeah my wife went to get tatted with her two daughters two years ago.  Each of the girls got three coloured stars on the back of their necks, one representing each of them.  My wife also got a vine with her three kids names on them.  Both of these girls have since gotten many more ink jobs done and on the one it is pretty simple and not that noticeable.  But on the other one it is far to obvious.  She and her new husband each had a verse from Iris by the GooGoo Dolls put on their full back.  I tried to advice that it may look cool now but in another 40 years when she is 60 years old these are not going to look that attractive. My wife has two other ink spots and wanted to get a vine on her leg.  I put my foot down on that one and she listened to me (for a chance Ha!) and did not get this done.  I think it is fine for parents to go to shops with their kids as majority of kids today are going to get inked up whether we approve or not. Besides there are a lot of worse things they could be doing.  I can not knock people for getting inked as I have a couple myself but they are not very big and have the names of granddaughters and my dog on each arm,.  My prediction is the next big wave of great jobs is going to be tattoo removal. Best of luck, and remember to think of how this will look when you go searching for employment later in life and/or you have kids of your own.

  7. i got mine on my 14th bday with my mom

  8. I got a tattoo in Las Vegas when I was 14 with out a parent. I guess anything goes in Vegas. Sorry about your surgery, that had to be painful. I have a nautical star and it's one of my favorite tatts. I think a star for each surgery is cool. Well............Good luck!
