Has anyone on here ever taken months or years off to travel the world?

Where did you go? How was it? If you have not done this, would you consider doing it?

lol one day. i have take alot of trips with friends to dublin, london, southampton and all over the us but nothing that lasted for more than about 20 days. My friends grandparents worked their whole lives and never took much vacation so when they retired and hit about 70 they sold their house for about 400,000 and bought a honda element and a 100,000 camper and took the other 270,000 or w/e and spent like 2 years traveling the u.s. and canada. did everything from hollywood to the cascades to grandcanyon and way up in canada, marthas vinyard ect. they had a blast and recently came home with enough money to buy a little country home after selling their camper and are living quite comfortably .  SOunds good to me

I have not, but my son did...

  He took a little over 3 months and circumnavigated the globe.  Lives in US, spent a little over 2 months in Europe, then a week in Dubai, then a little over a month in SE Asia (Thailand, Viet Nam, and Hong Kong).  Thought it was a fantastic experience and would love to do it again.

seems like when i have the time i don't have the money and vise versus. never the less it's an enticing idea. watch the travel channel for ideas or explore a country tied to your heritage.

YES. I have gone to such a place. The duration was in months not planned.

It so happened that me and my friends were planning to go out to a remote forest in the western ghats. One of my friends lost his way, and soon enough we discovered that he wasnt with us. We split up in groups of 2 to search of him and decided on the rendezvous point. As it turned out, myself and my gf had lost our way. So now, we not only had lost a man, but we had lost the way ourselves. It would be 3 days before help arrived. But this was a good 3 days that I spent with her, and the most memorable one too! We spent 2 months in the same resort, and reliving those very days...

YES, Id do it again if I get the opportunity to!
