  1. I'm living in Barcelona and keep out of Touristic areas (Las Ramblas, old neighborhood)  for your acomodation. Nice areas for acomodation are Paseig de Gracia (really centric and without pickpockets), Rambla Catalunya (it's not the same street as las Ramblas).

This two are the centric areas but you can also go to other neighborhoods like Sarrià, Sagrada Familia, Gracia, St. Gervasi, Pedralbes, Eixample. These are also good areas to stay.

Just to advise you that the centric area is good but as in all touristic cities you've got to be  a bit careful.

  2. I stayed at Hotel Regencia Colon, which is in the heart of the city on the same plaza as the cathedral.  The staff were fantastic and we saved a lot of money by being walking distance from almost everything.  Because you're on a big, well-lit plaza it's very safe at night, and there are well-lit, safe street connecting you with places like Las Ramblas and the metro station.  It is a three-star offshoot of a four-star hotel, so you get all the great service at a much lower price.  See the websites below:

  3. Plenty of hostels on the Rambla, just watch your wallet a lot of pickpockets there, been there 4 times.

  4. Abba Sans Hoteles are good... The one we stayed at was near the Sans Estacio metro stop, kind close to Diagonal. It was easy to get into town, and they have great breakfast.

  5. I don't know about accomodations because when I went, work put me in a 5 Star Resort along the Mediterranean.  Check out:

    1. Palau de Musica

    2. Barcelona Opera House

    3. Sacred Family Cathedral

    4. The Original Seaport

    5. Ramblas

    6. Barcelona City Hall

That's all I had time for but there is so much more to see there!

  6. I stay last december on the H10 Gravina and we like it very much.  The location is centric, near Plaza de Catalunya, in a quiet side street.  We need two rooms because we are a family of four and find it very nice in size for all four.  We sleep with the window open and it was very nice.  The rate was good.

Barcelona is my favorite city to live and in vacation.
