Has anyone out there ever taught English in Korea?

Three years ago a friend of mine had gone to Korea to teach English after she finished college and she said she had a great experience. Her college at that time was able to connect her with a school around the Seoul area. Does anyone know of an agency/group that can help you get a job like that there? I think it would be a good summer experience to live in that country.

  1. I teach English in Korea and have done so since 1996.  I did not use an agency to obtain employment since I was already living in Korea.  Korean friends introduced me to Language Institutes initially and I have built my own reputation since.  There are agencies that provide you with a link up service and basically work as an agent, but normally get paid by the school for their service.

You certainly want to ensure that housing is provided by the school and a return air fare is provided at the end of your contract, with optional years if you decide to stay in Korea and continue to teach, which would also include a free trip back to Korea after your home leave.

Try the links below for more information on teaching English in Korea.  Good luck.
