  1. I wouldn't waste my money on some gadget.  Just go buy a good quality dremel - they come with a good warranty and are useful for other things, too.  (especially for a larger dog)

I bought a cordless one - it works just great.

  2. No I don't own one.  They are basically a dremel tool with a guard on it.  You can buy a dremel just about anywhere in the tool section.  It does the same thing.  We used to use the dremel on our lab, and it was pretty simple.  We started doing it because she was scared of the sound of the nail clippers.

  3. This is the website I learned to dremel my dog's nails from. It's very detailed.

  4. I don't own one I do have just a regular dremel however a clint of mine did order one and brought it in for me to use  it's a complete wast of money it's awkward the dumb guard just gets in the way i told her to send it back and get your money back. It's just a dremel with a guard.

  5. You can use this on any size dog.  However, a regular grinder will do the same thing.  The ones on TV have a "safety guard", which in my opinion does not do anything but get in the way.

A Dremmel or any other grinder can be used on a dog.  However, know that unless the dog is used to it, the sound and vibrations can scare the dog.  Get the accustomed to it slowly, first by just leaving it on the floor, the turn it on but leave it on the floor.  Once the dog is used to the sound, then hold the dog in one hand, the grinder in the other.  Once the dog is okay with this, then do a single nail and see how the dog reacts.  He may not care, but it may take him a little while to get used to it.

The good thing about the grinder is that the nail is not left sharp, which can hurt the humans in the house and potentially snag clothes.  However, the TV commercials that promote the trimmer as not cutting the quick is not true.  You can cut the quick just as easy with a grinder if you grind too close as you can with a regular clipper.
