Has anyone participated in (green) Rebuilding in New Orleans or the Midwest?

Question

I've decided to volunteer over Christmas this year (for 2 weeks) and am hoping to find an opportunity to participate hands-on in rebuilding (green rebuilding would be the most awesome!) in New Orleans or the Midwest region (or elsewhere, if there's good work going on).

Has anyone had a good experience doing rebuilding? Would really appreciate the ideas! Have already tried the typical searches online, but it's hard to vouch for quality of the actual volunteer experience.
