Has anyone planted a crape mytle tree in a pot? and do they grow fast?

  1. I had a crape in a pot for two years before I planted it in the ground.  While in the pot it grew over 18".

    If you give them well-drained soil and sufficient light, they will grow well and fast the first few years.


  2. Why not?  Be careful of your selection, though.  Some crape myrtles are trees, and can grow to 40 feet high!  That type will not be happy in a pot! Check the label, and see if you can find one that is supposed to grow to about 5-6 feet.  That type will be happier in a container than a taller variety.
