Question:

Has anyone played, or have an honest + valid opinion on, the new Adams Idea a3 OS Hybrid irons? Alternatives?

I've never had a "good" set of irons. I am looking to get a set of game improvement irons as I shoot in the low 100's/high 90's. I need something that will keep the ball straighter and add a little distance on my bad shots. I'm willing to spend up to $500 or $600. I've hit the Adams a3 OS and I like the fact that the 3, 4, and 5 are actually I-Woods (hybrid irons). I've aslo hit the Taylor Made r7 draw, the Nike Slingshot OSS. I've been recommended the Cobra S9 and the Callaway Big Bertha's. Any opinions or advice on clubs, what I should be looking for when I demo them at the range, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

  1. My father in law has the Adams Hybrids and loves them.  He's a 12 handicap, straight as an arrow with medium to short distance.  When he bought the Adams OS he added 20 yards to his low/mid irons and dropped his handicap to 9.  I bought the Cobra S9's at the end of 06,  and after I got used to a slight pitch difference from my old set I fell in love.  The sweet spot is so huge that you actually have to try to hit a terrible hook/slice.  The control and consistance of ALL the irons amazed me.  It was still me swinging them so the as I dropped from a 11 to an 8 over last summer I knew it was the clubs.  I suggest going to a course that has a good selection and a place where you can be fitted for a set.  I won't buy any club without being fitted and hitting 3 or 4 choices.  Good Luck to you!
