I just checked it out, because I've been wanting to read it. How did you like it if you read it? How old were you when you read it?

I'm going to start it tomorrow, and hopefully finish it next weekend.

  1. War and peace completely blew me away. i love reading russian literature and this novel will certainly not disappoint. make sure you get a copy with a good translation, sometimes meanings of whole paragraphs can be jumbled because the translator is rubbish. unless you're an extremely quick reader and have very little to do in your spare time  i doubt you'll be finished by then but you may prove me wrong. i was 15 when i first read war and peace and have only just finished reading the last of his works amongst others. you really should try notes from the underground or anna karenina by tolstoy once you've finished. i'm sure you shan't be disappointed as his writing is exuberant and fresh and completely captivating. good luck and i hope you enjoy.

nb. try reading other russian lit most notably Dostoevsky.

  2. Oh wow, that's a thick book, but supposedly it's really good according to my brother (he was 17 when he read it "for fun"). I have yet to tackle it. Good luck.
