  1. He is one of the good scholars of his time mashallah. He has his few mistakes but who doesn't. He is the founder of Jammat e Islami mostly supported in Pakistan. It is an Islamic political movement like Ekwan nil Muslimeen of Egypt. Abul ala Moudidi is one of the scholars who declaired that the Qaydianies(Ahmadies) r Kaffirs & that is why he is hated by them.

He has done many noble work for Islaam & we should support his good work done for the cause of Muslims. He wrote many book like the Tafheemul Quraan, fundamentals of Islamm & many more.He won an award for his book on Riba(intrest).

May Allah reward him for his good works.

Edit: bro Ismail Iliat gave the best A mashallah.

  2. Maududi was a GRAND:

    1-  Hypocrite

    2-  Idiot

    3-  Extremist

    4-  Super Super Idiot.

    of Pakistan.

He is followed as a god by the disgusting Grand hypocrites of Pakistan which form the Jamaat-e-Islami.

I have read his Tafseer. In fact his Tafseer was the first translation of Quran for me. I felt pissed off with the super idiocity of this person. But I had no choice as it was the ONLY translation and exegesis I had in my home, and I did not have money to buy any alternative to it.

  3. Moulana Abul A'la Maududi was one of the great scholar from India. Like any other scholars some of his opinion are dis agreement with many other scholars. He is the founder of Jamate Islami in India which is there in Pakistan (which some are  just as political parties)  and also many other parts of the world . Ikhwanul Muslimoon founded by Hasanul Banna also carry the same ideology.

His famous work is the Tafheemul Quran which is one of the great translation of Holy Quran in Urudu which has been translated into several other languages. There are many other books which have influenced greatly among many Muslims.

It  is wrong to reject him because he followed Hanafi Mazhab. Is that a wrong thing to follow the opinion of a great Imam Abu Haneefa (r.a) in a matter of Fikh which Ahlu Sunna agrees upon.   I am not any scholar's fan nor do I blindly follow someone or to all what Maududi says, but I know this scholar and some of his history. He was jailed for fighting against Ahmediyya movement in Pakistan. He was put to death and because of opposition from world Muslims, his death trial was canceled by Pakistan government. It was at the era of King Faisal of Saudi Arabia whose regime involved in his matter. It was from Jail he wrote most of His Tafseer and also many other books.

May Allah reward him best for whatever good he has done to this Ummah and forgive his shortcomings.

  4. The several journeys which Maududi undertook during the years 1956-74 enabled Muslims in many parts of the world to become acquainted with him personally and appreciate many of his qualities. At the same time, these journeys were educative for Maududi himself as well as they provided to him the opportunity to gain a great deal of first-hand knowledge of the facts of life and to get acquainted with a large number of persons in different parts of the world. During these numerous tours, he lectured in Cairo, Damascus, Amman, Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah, Kuwait, Rabat, Istanbul, London, New York, Toronto and at a host of international centres. During these years, he also participated in some 10 international conferences. He also made a study tour of Saudi Arabia, Jordan (including Jerusalem), Syria and Egypt in 1959-60 in order to study the geographical aspects of the places mentioned in the Qur’an. He was also invited to serve on the Advisory Committee which prepared the scheme for the establishment of the Islamic University of Madinah and was on its Academic Council ever since the inception of the University in 1962.

He was also a member of the Foundation Committee of the Rabitah al-Alam al-Islami, Makkah, and of the Academy of Research on Islamic Law, Madinah. In short, he was a tower of inspiration for Muslims the world over and influenced the climate and pattern of thought of Muslims, as the Himalayas or the Alps influence the climate in Asia or Europe without themselves moving about.

    His Last Days:

In April 1979, Maududi’s long-time kidney ailment worsened and by then he also had heart problems. He went to the United States for treatment and was hospitalised in Buffalo, New York, where his second son worked as a physician. Even at Buffalo, his time was intellectually productive. He spent many hours reviewing Western works on the life of the Prophet and meeting with Muslim leaders, their followers and well-wishers.

Following a few surgical operations, he died on September 22, 1979 at the age of 76. His funeral was held in Buffalo, but he was buried in an unmarked grave at his residence (Ichra) in Lahore after a very large funeral procession through the city.

May Allah bless him with His mercy for his efforts and reward him amply for the good that he has rendered for the nation of Islam (Ummah).

  5. nope, what books did he write??

edit : why thumbs down??  i was only asking :s

  6. Maudoodi was supposed to be executed by the Pakistani governmenet before he was bailed out by Saudia Arabia.  He was charged and convicted under conspiracy to murder.  His Jamaat Islami has since had it's leader arrested and the Jamaat is being tried for genocide.

This is all documented in the UN as well as numerous government agencies.  He was a Muslim no doubt, but sadly did not portray the proper peaceful example of Islam.  Allah have mercy on him.

love for all, hatred for none

  7. I have read few books,

He was a great scholar of Islam,

he was ready to get hanged to death because he wanted to label Qadyanis as Non-Muslims,

such devotion towards Islam of that man,

    May Allah rest his soul,

  8. maududi,founder of jamaat e islami pakistan,an idiot and a foolish person,narrator of many books of fabrication/conjecture

  9. heard of 'em but never read 'em

  10. yes i have heard of him and have read one of his book as well...

    his book khutbat sermons

alll the sermons he had given were compiled into tht book and were soooo good i loved it...it was easy to understand and i just loved tht book....

  11. yes mashallah his books are good. most of them are urdu but some have been translated into english.he wrote a tafseer of the Quraan called tafheem ul quraan.his book parda is considered the best book for women. i have heard of him alhamdulillah  he's one great person mashallah. it was him who solved the probled of mike in mecca. there was a dispute among the scholars if masjid haram can use mike or is it a bida' and he was the one who solved. but now in saudi arabia his books are not sold. his book rasaa'l wa masaa'el is beautiful. the only problem is that urdu is kinda high 4 me to understand( i am frm kerala so dont know urdu so well).

may Allah have mercy on his soul.

abul harith: naturaly he's have mistakes. he was no angel or something. he was a normal man so he did have mistakes. he was the one who brought muslims back to islaam in ind and pak during the partition and independence.

1qfactor: just cuz  the leaders of jama't islaami are in that condition duzn't mean that he potrayed a wrong pic. do you know seyed qutub and zaynab ghazali? they had the same understanding of islaam which was right but as usual the disbelievers will never allow islaam to flourish and so they are put to death sentence. now every 1 speaks bad about yousef al qardawi. some pple frm the salafi grp call him kafir but there is no better scholar in todays world than him.

the same with anwar. pple call him kafir jus cuz they soeak 4 khilafa . all those who speak 4 khilafa are in prison or will be hanged. it's true. the egyption were gonna get seyen qutub mnd zaynab ghazali to hang as well why jus cuz he spoke 4 khilafa.

do u hav any idea the way zaynab was torturede and what she was blamed for? no!naturally wen pple tell she's bad no body wants to no about her but she was 1 strong lady. read ayyam minal hayaati-days from my life.

i'll ask a Q. duz anybody here know who Jibreen is? why dont u know him wen you know bin baaz? both of them were scholars and were together. even Jibreen had written many books along with bin baaz. both of them were scholars of saudi govt but how dont u no jibreen but u no bin baaz? the reason is that any1 hu publishes books of jibreen is in prison. hu speaks in favour r in prison. y? just cuz he wanted khilafa.

btw abul harith: rafa' yadayn is not compulsory, giv 1 hadeeth in which the prophet said that with out the rafa' yadayn your prayer is not complete.

  12. He had with him many mistakes.

Shaikh Hammaad al-Ansaaree's encounter with Maududi

I visited Maududi (Abul-A’laa Al-Maududi) along with some brothers during the course of his stay in Riyadh and he was in the hotel ‘bat-haa’ so we entered upon him and he was praying the ‘Asr prayer, so I began observing his prayer. So when he finished I said to him:

‘This prayer of yours needs reviewing, for you do not raise your hands, nor do you relax (be at ease) and other than that’

So he said: ‘I am Hanafee in Madhhab’.

So I said to him: ‘this is more overwhelming than the first; since it is impermissible for you to say that, and you are above such a statement. We had come to think from your writings that you are a free-thinker[1], but it has become apparent to us that you are a constricted thinker.’ Then I said to him: ‘indeed Imaam Aboo Haneefah is the one that you blindly follow; yet who are the ones that Imaam Aboo Haneefah blindly followed?’

He remained silent, and Allaah's Aid is sought.

  13. Sure. He was a great scholar. Made some mistakes here and there, but in general, I consider him one of the best. His explanation of various Islamic issues is really lucid and easy to comprehend.

EDIT: D!@AZ---Yup! That's was one really cool thing about him. He and his followers were sent to prison and threatened with death sentences since they refused to believe the Qadyanis as Muslims. My grandfather was sent to jail by the Ayub Khan regime on these charges since he was a staunch anti Qadyani. His absence caused a serious financial crisis in the family, resulting in my aunt's death at the age of 3, due to lack of medical care in her sickness.

Of course, my grandfather stuck to his beliefs as did the other followers of Abul Ala' Maududi, until the govt. of Pakistan officially declared the Qadyanis non Muslims.

  14. Actually not even heard of it!!

  15. Yes, he was the founder of Jamaat-e-Islami

I read some of Tafhim al-Qur’an - I want to buy the English version of the book and read it someday insha'Allah.

  16. YES ! tafheem ul quran is his famous one

and i read few other books too.
