Has anyone read the book, "House on Mango Street"?

I have a project due soon on the book.

We have to make a board game that relates to the book somehow.

I've done the actual board, but I'm having trouble coming up with rules that would relate to anything in the book.

Could you give me some suggestions, please?

Well, you don't necessarily need to make the rules relate to the book, so long as the board or questions or whatever do.
