Has anyone read the book Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt?

I myself have read the book but I didn't understand it that well. I was wondering if somebody could give me a detailed , good run-up of the book.

Frank's parent's moved them back to Ireland because they felt the children would do better living there. The problem was the dad was an alcoholic and couldn't find work. When he did he used up his money by buying alcohol in the bars instead of fending for his family. His mom was already sick to begin with and her family didn't care for her husband so they didn't want to help out. Frank learns to scrounge for pieces of coal to help warm the house and even steals things sometimes. They got evicted because it was so cold and Frank decided to use the beams for the roof to heat the fire. Unfortunately the roof fell in on them so they had to move. Frank gets odd jobs to contribute to the family and to save money so he can return to New York to live.

I can't remember any other details because i read it a few years ago but I remember something about the dad finally getting work in a factory away from the home but he still ends up drinking away most of his pay
