Has anyone read the hessian by howard fast?

my sister has to read that book for summer reading, and i looked at it myself...the book is SOOOO boring and complex! i was just wondering if there were any summaries or something similar to sparknotes so that if she gets confused about a part in the book she can refrence them. she's a good student and wouldn't just read the summary, but i feel bad that she has to read the book so i was wondering if there is something available to help her with the book. thanks!
