what do you think about it? i think its pretty darn neat, especially how its only the females who seem to know how to do it. do you think it might make some people look differently at evolution?

I think the Humanzee phenomina is also interesting, African/Chimp relations....dang! I thought it was absurd when the aids virus was tracked to Hatians and monkeys....now I am not so sure.

Wow. Too bad for the bush babies. I didn't realize chimps were carnivores! Eww, okay. I suppose the chimps are similar to us, the females of the human race have got to get the groceries, too! ;-D

It certainly doesn' t make me look differently at evolution, but I think chimps are far more advanced than most give them credit for.  They are self aware and extremely intelligent.  Males will go on hunting parties and they essentially chase down monkeys in trees.  They will sometimes share a meal with the females.  I suspect a very smart female figure this method out and hid it from males so they wouldn't steal their highly prized meal.  Eventually, the males will figure it out though in my opinion.  Chimps do things such as crush nuts with rocks.  It is a skill that may take years to learn and master.  This pointed spear story was the most interesting story yet.  Thanks.

It is an interesting article. It seems to prove part of Darwin's theory of survival of the fittest in that the environment had changed and,"The chimps apparently had to invent new ways to gather food because they live in an unusual area for their species," and a fundamental premise is that in order to survive a species must learn to adapt in order to survive. The explanation of only the females were utilizing spears to make up for a lack of strength is speculation at this point and it remains to be seen if the behavior is not taught through observational learning to other members of the group. The ramification and the comparison of the chimps to human predecessors is fascinating. It could be like Deja Vu.

and for your other question, sadly as aprevious person stated there is already overwhelming evidence of evolution and those that choose to ignore facts will ignore this too.

It might make some people look differently at evolution, but, you must remember this piece of evidence is just the latest in a world of evidence presented to these people already. So, do not set your expectations to high.

All I can say is its simply amazing. I dont really find this to be great news for us however, if a species of ape was going to start making weapons I'd rather it be a gorilla or orangutan...Chimpanzees are freaking insane. They are the only species of ape other than us that will go around killing just to kill, and just go on rampages at times. Gorillas are strong but at least they typically need provocation. This is a major step in evolution and I'm proud to have been alive when it happened, the only bad part is theyre still a couple million years away from learning how to write.
