Question:

Has anyone seen a cricket pitch with such wide cracks, the ball disapeared straight down one of them?

I haven't, I was wondering if anyone has.

I suppose a pitch with cracks that wide would be a minefield, and the match would possibly be abandoned for safety reasons.

  1. Out where I grew up it was the norm rather than an abnormality

  2. Not in Aussieland. We have good pitches here generally, despite what OZ says

  3. I once played on a pitch which was as rocky as anything. The good thing was that whenever the bowler pitched in line with the stumps, the rocks and stone would ensure a huge deviation and we got a lot of runs through wides and byes. Very few wickets fell, as contact with the ball was rare.

Needless to say, we gave up playing as everyone got bored.

  4. Pitches in Australia are like that !!! Like the one in PERTH test.  WE STILL WON!!!! HOORAY!!

  5. Yes!

They couldn't play on one for safety reasons.

  6. Only we Indians can produce these kinds of pitches Sir Kiwi.

The wider the cracks are,the smaller is the opposition score.

    ((wink))

I think you are spending too much time in Australian deserts Sir Kiwi. These unique thoughts can only come in mind when you are at such a lovely place.LOL

  7. Lol no you're right, the match would be abandoned due to safety reasons!!

Would be quite funny to watch though! :)

  8. I havent heard that but there are some crook ones in India I believe.

  9. What, where?

  10. Not yet, but living in drought-stricken Australia (or so I'm told everyday by the weatherman with the fun curly hair), I wouldn't be surprised if I come across one

  11. I have seen it many times. When some white team beats India in India in a test you do see wide crack pitch in the next test. I heard that Gramme Smith stuck in Kanpur's pitch
