Or am I going to have to make them ?

We have FXRs with big inch motors and 4 gal tanks, that limits us to about 120 mi. range.

I'm looking for some kind of 1-2 gal. auxiliary tank (maybe fork mounted) to tie into the cross over line, so when we're traveling we dont have to worry about fuel.

  1. Not that I have ever heard of  I used to carry an old army canteen full just to get to a station

But that is a problem esp where gas is 125 miles apart Like Nv 50

I found out early a peanut tank aint for the road

  2. check out MOONEYE's for spun aluminum  tanks:

these are actually oil tanks, but I don't see why they couldn't be modified for your purposes.

or get in touch with FabKevin, he can fabricate anything you need:

  3. The tour Tank is the only one I've seen that would work for the HD.

I wish they made a factory option that held 7 gal. like the Honda 1300. It's nice having that much gas.

  4. Here's a good discussion of extra fuel sources:

I was once in a situation in which there were 210 miles or so between gas stations.  (crossing the Great Divide Basin, in Wyoming)  My bike holds about 4.1, and gets 55-60 mpg, so I knew it would be close.  I bought an MSR bottle at a camping store, filled it with a couple of quarts of gas, and threw it into my saddlebag.  Never had to use it, but it was comforting to know it was available.

  5. Lots of e.p.a. and d.o.t. regulations with fuel tanks, I doubt you will find anything for sale from a reputable company that is designed to tie in with your existing fuel system.

But, you might have a look at these.  They look a little better than strapping a big red jug on your bike.   Plus, you could probably fabricate some fuel fittings to it, and make a detachable set up to only use on trips you need it for.

  6. why not just get a stretched 6 gallon tank? I have seen a saddlebag that was a tank.
