Well, how did the banned horse get the drugs in the first place?. Maybe they should offer the horse what they offered Dwayne Chambers, let him back in if he names names, LOL

  1. The horses which tested positive for drugs had the substance capsaicin in their systems. This drug, which is made from an extract of the chili peppers used to season food, is normally applied to the skin in a rub to relieve pain and muscle soreness. There are a number of arthritis rubs, including the product called Ben g*y, which also contain a certain amount of this drug- and they are sold over the counter for human use. This substance is absorbed through skin when it's used on horses, just as it is with people, and under international rules, large amounts of it are banned. The rules do allow smaller amounts to be used for theraputic reasons, however.

As for how the horse got the drug in its system, it's most likely that the wash or liniment used on the horse after it was worked probably was too concentrated- an easy mistake to make, and one which has happened to me. I am a horse owner and professional, and have worked with and around horses all my life, and I know how easily this can happen. It's just tragic that this has happened to a rider from a country which has never won a medal in the sport of show jumping prior to these Games, however. If the horse tests positive on the second sample, that will be it for the Norwegian team. They will lose their medal and get sent home, with the horses following as soon as the quarantine restrictions are lifted and they can travel back to Norway. Of the other 3 horses, one of them was from Ireland, one was from Brazil, and the third was from Germany. All the American and Canadian riders appear to have "passed the box" so to speak, without a problem. Let's hope that continues. The 3 other riders who had positive horses have been suspended and won't be allowed to compete, though one of them wasn't entered in tonight's final to start with. Even he will face sanctions and fines, however, and he will also be barred from competing in other events. Ireland has also lost their most promising rider to a doping scandal, for the second straight Olympics in a row. If this happens again, the Irish team is probably going to be barred from competing in events like the WEG in a couple of years. Sad, isn't it?

  2. When this story came on the Olympics I laughed out loud. I also had a mental vision of the horses trying to 'score' and talking in their own accents.

    Hilarious!!

  3. I think the trainers of these horses should be banned for life and also banned from handeling horses. Who knows what those drugs could do to those horses in the long run. Im glad they found out, sucks to be those horses though. Theyre gonna have detox.

  5. I know. That selfish horse has brought shame on the whole sport.

  6. In the back streets of town here we often see groups of horses wearing hoodies hanging around on street corners looking very shifty indeed!  Now it seems we have the evidence that they are just waiting round for their dealers!  Before we know it they will be robbing corner shops to feed their filthy habits!!

  7. Yeah, four horses failed dope tests. They'll make it drink beer, or some other stimulant to keep it running. They'll put a pill in an apple and feed it.

  8. Neiiiigggghh.

I've just been handed the full SP on the situation, apparently these naughty horses have been galloping about buying up vast amounts of "Horseradish Sauce" which as every vet knows is an equine viagra, apparently, when in the dressage ring 5 legs are better than four  though I cant see that it could help their jumping ability more of a hindrance if you get my drift.

  9. That horse was hungry (oops, from Hungary) and swallowed the "weeds" by mistake.   Neighhhhhh, it was not intentional.

    *Sorry, it was Norwegian horse.
