It has surpassed any previously recorded flooding for this area and far exceeds the square miles that were flooded in Katrina. As a resident one of the communities that is flooding, the disaster response has been excellent, imo.

  1. i live in hannibal and its flooding hear too

  2. As I live in Iowa, I have seen the terrible flooding that is occuring in our great state.  I live in Marshalltown and for the most part the town is doing alright, many others are far worse off.  Luckily the Iowa River is almost north of the town so it only affects a few in the northern part and in the country.  Des Moines and Cedar Rapids/Iowa City are obviously for the most part the worst off.  It's very tragic and I'm not quite sure what it is going to take to get our state back to "normal".  Luckily Iowa has many great people that have volunteered and stepped up and helped anyone they can.  Iowa has been hit hard lately with flooding and tornados.  Hopefully this is the end and everyone can start trying to get their lives back under control.  Everyone is praying for Iowans and many are also coming in to help wherever possible.  www.kcci.com has many interesting/good pictures, videos, stories, and news reports of flooding in central iowa and www.iowaflood.com has many updates on the flood all over the state.

  4. I have been watching in disbelief at the news reports. People are having such a difficult timie it breaks your heart. I'm happy to hear from a resident that the disaster relief is being handled so much better. Thanks for sharing with us and  best of luck to you and your family!

  5. I've been watching it on the news. I was concerned that the response would be sluggish, like Katrina. Glad to hear that things might be going better this time around.

  6. I have been watching the news, getting information online from NWS River Forecasting Centers, and listening in on conference calls between the states and the federal government.

It will take a lot of manpower and resources for the response and recovery of these historic floods. Continuing weather systems are making response difficult, as more storms continue to hit the areas.

  7. turn the t.v.  to a news channel
