Yesterday, two people who live in separate states who know nothing about one another both saw the same bug. It was as big as a humming bird, and it had a big black stinger. It had the abdomen and color of a bumblebee, but the rest of it was black, including it's long stinger. It didn't hurt either of them, but it was very disgusting looking, rumor has it. I've never heard of a bug looking like this..does anyone know what it is?

  2. Sounds like a humming bird moth.  They're harmless.  People have a hard time believing that they're moths since they feed during the day.  Go to google and click the images tab and click on hummingbird moth.

  3. It is probably a Cicada Killer Wasp, I have recently found one in my backyard, and they are just as you describe. They also burrow, thats how we actually first noticed them because they were burrowing a hole, and dragging a GIANT grasshopper down with it. We were like what the h**l could this be, It looked like exactly as you described, but we were like "iv never heard of a wasp like that!!" That thing is CRAAAZY!  But then we found out it was one of those, google them and check em out, other wise just follow these links:

-- Oh wait I'm sorry the one we had was a Great Golden Digger Wasp, at 1st we were thinking it was the other, then realized it was this one.. But yours could be either one, Look at those links then check these ones out:

--Scroll down a bit on this link till you find the Great Golden Digger Wasp

  4. Do u have a picture of it???

  5. Sounds like a parasitic wasp. They're not dangerous to humans, but prey on other wasps.
