Has anyone stayed at Coral Oasis Villa in St John USVI?

I rented this villa for my family later this fall and am just looking for a personal review or opinion.

It's Coral Oasis on Mamey Point in the Bordeaux mountains on St, John US Virgin Islands. Also, looking for good places to eat dinner and good snorkle spots.

  1. Hey JDtexas,  I am also going to St Johns this fall.   Guess what we are staying at the Coral Oasis.  I will send you a review when we get b ack. My brother and brother in-law love the island.  We are really looking forward to staying in the beautiful house.

  2. I have never stayed at this villa since it's only been on the rental market since last year. However, this is the mountain region of St. John, which offers some of the most spectacular scenery on the island.

There are 39 pristine beaches on St John and you will have no problem finding a beach that has good snorkeling. Our favorite beach is Francis Bay where you can swim with the turtles. A quiet beach but beautiful.

Waterlemon Cay (Leinster Bay) has fantastic snorkeling. Trunk Bay has a underwater snorkel trail that has some amazing marine life.

I suggest you purchase the handbook St John Feet, Fins and Four Wheel Drive by Pam Gaffin. This will be your bible while visiting St John. Also purchase the National Geographic Virgin Islands National Park Map. It details hiking trails, all the beaches etc.

You are closer to Coral Bay than Cruz Bay but both sides have great restaurants. The Coral Bay side is more laid back than Cruz Bay. Coral Bay is where we stay.

Some restaurants on the Coral Bay side that we like:

    Shipwreck Landing

    Island Blues

    Skinny Legs

    Astro Bistro

    Miss Lucy

    Donkey Diner

    Big Belly Deli

On the east end of the island past Coral Bay, check out Vie's Shack. She has her own beach and a small food shack/stand. I think she has the best island food. Garlic chicken, johnny cakes, conch fritters, coconut/pineapple tarts. Yummy. She not always there .Call before going if you want lunch 340-693-5033 She opens up around 11:30.

On the Cruz Bay side, here are some of the restaurants we like.

There so many to choose from.

    BQ Joe's

    Candi's Barbecue

    Beach Bar

    Banana Deck

    LaTapa

    Lime Inn

    Paradiso

    Deli Grotto (lunch)

    Baked in Sun

Starfish Market is where you can find the best selections of groceries, but be prepared for sticker shock, many items are 20% to 50% higher. (everything is imported) If you can pack your families favorite snacks in the suitcase, you will be glad you did.

Have a great time on St John and be sure to take a boat excursion around the island or to the BVI. You are in for a treat. Enjoy)
