My husband and I are going to the Iberostar Paraiso del mar in August for our honeymoon and i really wanted to get some info on the resort.

1. I'd like to know is it overly huge and will we have a hard time getting around to all the things we want to see on the resort? i know there are 4 other hotels with in the resort and i was wondering is the Iberostar del mar close to the beach? Is the beach nice?

2. Are all drinks included. and do they have american beer such as miller and such?

3. how is the entertainment, will there be lots for us to do and see?

4. Is it hard to get from the cancun airport to the restort and back?

5. how much money should we bring? do people tip alot there?

If you have any other input or advice please let me know, i would love to have a wonderful honeymoon with NO stress:)

  1. Theres a lot of info abt the hotel on the web page. Yes its a huge place but its so nice walking arround with all those gardens and some animals 2, anywways theres a lil train tht goes all along the hotel and the resort in case u dont feel like walking.

Abt the beach, well it is not tht close....it first depends on the building tht ur room is in and second, even frm the building tht is the closest 2 the ocean ull have 2 walk a bit. U can send an email 2 the hotel making a request 2 b on a building closer 2 the ocean....im not 100% sure but heres the address recepcion.mar@iberostar.com.

The entertainment is good they always have different things, they can give u a time table with all the activities.

Its not hard 2 go frm the airport 2 the hotel. U can take a shared taxi in the airport and ull b in the hotel in arround 40 mins, it will cost abt USD30, u can pay in pesos or in dollars but in cash. If u wanna go 2 Playa del Carmen, the hotel has a free shuttle service.

Yes ppl tip a lot there...bell boys, waiters, concierge, house kipping, even the guys frm the front desk.

  2. its in a beautiful setting...we stayed at the lindo next door and went over there a few times..the beer is wonderful, miller?, youre going to mexico, double x and carona...the resort isnt huge, the pools are nice..the beach is a little walk, thru a little jungle..take money, you will not need it at the resort though..

  3. Have you looked at the hotel website re things like transport to the resort from the airport?  [There are buses/vans from the airport that travel to the resorts in PDC and the area.]

You can also go to TripAdvisor.com, find your destination and click on "hotels" to get feedback and details from past guests.

Congratulations on your marriage - have a great trip.

  4. Meggie, the Del Mar is one of five hotels on this strip of Playa Paraiso. You can't go wrong at the Iberostar chain (I'm going to the Lindo in May for the third time). Yes, all drinks are included, but you won't find American beer. You are about a 35-minute drive from the airport, depending on how many stops you make at other resorts. All hotels are on the beach but the resort is a town in itself. I love to walk, but there are shuttles that can transport you. The Del Mar beach is a little rocky. Walk south to the Lindo/Maya beach, right before the lavish Iberostar Grand, and there's a nice swimming area. Bring singles to tip as you'll be treated better, of course. The shows in the various theaters are somewhat entertainining but not Vegas quality. The Star Friends entertainment staff work long days and try hard. You won't have access to the wave pool or lazy river at the Lindo/Maya because you're staying at the less expensive end. But be sure to walk throughout the complex and see what a truly magnificent place it is. The disco gets mighty crowded at night in peak season and is fun. There's plenty enough to do here that you don't have to leave, unless you want to do one of the many excursions in the area (shopping in Playa Del Carmen, ruins at Tulum, dolphin swims, etc..) Enjoy yourself
