  1. Oh dear- you haven't have you?

I have to be completely honest with you and say that in all my years as a travel agent, That complex is one of the most complained about I have ever known.

I'm not trying to make you feel bad, but the reviews here are very very mixed indeed and not by any means all complimentary. Honestly in 2006, there were no less than 496 complaints to head office out of 607 holidays sold to this accomodation and that was 105 complaints up on the previous year! Those statistics are 100% correct and the reason why I tell you to avoid it. Stats speak for themselves.

If you'd been my client first of all, I'd have made sure I knew exactly what your requirements were before I booked you here, because I have to say I've put more people off booking this one than I've ever sent to it.

I have actually been there- thank God not to stay in, but I have been to it to check it out twice a year for the last three years and it has in my opinion not gotten any better.

The comments are very mixed, but I can tell you from personal experience that the ones who love it are very often the very ones you'd want to avoid when on holiday.

You know the kind... usually parents who let their kids run riot while they eat and drink as much as they possibly can at the bar all day. Their kids are not under control, they think that a very basic 3 star hotel by a lake which is infested by mosquitoes is the ultimate in luxury just cos they can get drunk for free whilst they stick their children into the kids clubs and let someone else worry about them. If you like Bingo and stupid slap-stick amateur "entertainment" then it's great! If not, then you'll hate it.

Its not that I'm against kids I have 3 of my own but they do know how to behave themselves- I'd say that over half of the kids there were left to run free with no supervision- yeag great for kids to have freedom but not at the expense of others who go on holiday to relax and enjoy themselves- since when did kids have the right to wreck things and ruin it for others?

The complex is huge and impersonal- yeah theres a lot going on, but hey you can get that at Butlins for a lot less money. Its sheer size is daunting, it's very very busy especially in June/July/August/September/Oct... and Easter. I'm afraid it's like a Zoo only with people not animals.

If thats your kind of thing, then you'll love it. If you're looking for a relaxing family holiday in nice accomodation with good food and a bit of entertainment in the evenings followed by a good nights sleep then you've made a big mistake.

The food is at best edible- typical spanish trying to cater for british tastes- chips chips and more chips. That said, the complex has had more than it's fair share of stomach bugs- I'm not surprised, I've seen their kitchens!

To get the most out of this you'll have to be prepared to join in all the rabble oops sorry games and animation and stay drunk just like everyone who thinks it's the bees knees!

Your little one will be too little for the kids club- he/she will have no chance of any peace for a nap as there are so many people running around- the kids are noisy (I was there on 2nd October last year and in all three hotels there were 1000 KIDS that wasn't even the adults! In high season apparentley there can be 3000 kids for 1000 adults- OMG!!!

If you want Butlins abroad then fine, but you've probably paid top money for this and it is simply not good value- I'm sorry your travel agent sold you this- Its a 2-3 star accomodation at best and although its reasonably clean it has seen better days. You'll probably all be in the one tiny room and if you need to fit a cot in there too it will be a struggle.

Take plenty of insect repelleant because the mozzies will eat you alive- I'd go as far as to say take nets for nightime as the air-conditioning doesn't always work and kill the insects in your room.

Sorry, but fighting creepy crawlie things is not my idea of heaven and not what you'd expect in Majorca- it's not exactly the tropics!

If you need help changing this- e-mail me and I can advise.

I'm sorry to be so blunt but there are other hotels in Majorca which are so much better than this.

Its a lovely island and it's such a shame they haven't knocked this place down!

There is just one good thing I will say is that The Marte is definitely LESS BAD than the Jupiter/Saturno!

There are some reviews for you here- you can decide whether you want to take your chances- but personally I would not stay there if they paid me! You must read the reviews thoroughly and see if what they say makes it right for you or not.
