Has anyone stayed in Hotel Campanile in Runcorn, Cheshire?

What is it like? Is it clean? Are there a lot of pubs/restaurants in the area?

It's on the ring road round Runcorn on the junction for the road to Liverpool, so it's a bit out of town.  Pub nearby and the hotel has a bar and restaurant which is good value.  Campanile rooms are fairly basic but usually clean and modern with en-suite shower etc.

We stayed there along time a go and went out to a beef eater type place in the next town.. somehwere begining with W but cant for the life of me remember where..

we really didnt like the room.. we went in and there was an extrememly overpowering smell of shake and vac.. so much we could barely breathe.. very much like they were trying to hide something....

maybe a one of experience but we'd never go back

There are quite  a few reviews on the site below.  It's seems a reasonable priced place. Looking at the map on the page it very central.
