  1. HI

Stayed close to this resort last year and it was really nice.

One thing not to miss is Ocean World in Puerto Plata...it's great! Although it is about 2hours from where your staying on the coach.

  2. Ohhh noooooo

Went to Dominican and the reason it's the cheapest of the Caribbean islands is that it is a flea infested pit. I've still got the red scars all over my ankles and legs from 2 years ago from where the mosquitos bit me! And yes I had all the repellants in my room and sprayed over my body several times a day and it made no difference whatsoever (the sprays were with deet etc and cost a considerable amount of money) There was loads of other people there with the same problem.

Would never ever go there again or advise anyone to so i'd ask you to seriously consider paying a little more money and going somewhere decent if your travel agent will let you cancel and rebook somewhere else.

  3. There are different good hotel/resort in Sosua, one of the best for my taste is Sosua By the Sea (Boutique hotel) not expensive and the only one with a small private beach!

Anyway Sosua is a disco and bar town for the people who like this. You can visit Puerto Plata ( 20 min ride with public bus = 40 rds/pp) and visit Ocean World (expensive) Isabella de Torre (cable car) shopping, and of course many excursions are offered everywhere. Don't forget to take the excursion of Isabela Historica, one of the most unique and interesting ones

to discover the real story a bout the beginning of the new world, if you need more info just let me know.

    Happy to help you

  4. I have stayed there dozens of times over the past 11 years.  It is a great place.  The only suggestion I have is to stay as far away from all-inclusive resorts as you can, it will restrict your fun.  The best thing is to just go there from the airport and look for a nice small hotel, and try out some of the small restaurants and bars around the town and beach.  Cabarete is also nice, especially the restaurants on the beach at night.

  5. You can take a bus or cab to Puerto Plata and ride the cable car up the mountian. The public beach in Sosua is a must walk, even if you are staying at another beachfront resort. I much prefer the all inclusives. The locals will constantly try to overcharge you. Contrary to what others said, I never had a problem with bug bites at all. Caberette is a great day trip also.
