Has anyone stayed in a hotel at La Defense in Paris?

Is it worth staying at a hotel there, being cheaper than the Paris ones?

The simple answer is no its not.

By staying in La Defense you remove yourself from easy walking access to most major tourist sights and place yourself in a rather dreary and souless suburban area from which you will have to commute into the center city.

Nor is your initial premise correct. There re many reasonably price hotels in the Paris city center.

I would not do that. It is an unsafe area at night and it not near anything. In Paris the downtown core is the safest part of the city. La Defence basically shuts down at night and nobody really walks about. Plus, it's a good distance from anything else in Paris.

If you've been to Paris 100 times and you're going to do business in la defence area, sure, stay there. Otherwise, I'd stay in the city.
