Hi, I am looking for a recommendation. I would like to take my partner away for 2/3 nights to a nice hotel in UK. What I am looking for is a nice perhaps independent hotel that has some charm (not the purpose built concrete block hotels). Perhaps the hotel has some nice grounds, good food is essential. Good quality at a reasonable price Any recommendations. If it has leisure facitilies great, but this isn't essential. We both enjoy walking but leisurely not mountains or hills! Thanks

  1. I've stayed at a couple of Welsh Rarebits places (Bodysgallen was my favourite) and really liked them - here's the website http://www.rarebits.co.uk/

Also - Hotel Du Vin in Tunbridge Wells which is part of a small chain http://www.hotelduvin.com/ has great food and is a nice place to stay.

  2. Try the Famous Russian Tavern on the unspoilt Isle of Bute.

It's on the seashore, fresh seafood comes out of the sea into the kitchen, onto your plate, there's Real Ales poured directly from the cask. The island is stunningly beautiful and totally undeveloped. For independent travellers' experiences etc visit: http://del.icio.us/RogerMortimer
