I charge and pay my bill in full each moth, but how much are you really paying a gallon when you charge it and pay 19% interest on the unpaid balance???? At $4/gallon at the pump, you could have $5 or more in a gallon by the time you get the interest on there

  1. That is an excellent point.

That is why I use my Master Card check card from my bank.  No fees.

You should write an article and syndicate it to newspapers.  That is good advice for anyone.

  2. That's why I don't charge it...

  3. That's why I don't use credit cards at all for anything.  Only plastic we use is our bank cards and that is all we need.

  4. You need a new interest rate..that's horrible!!!

But yeah, I don't charge mine either...I use my debit card that comes out of the checking.....

  5. Tax write off.................

  6. Good point with the CC. That is why most gas stations now are capping off credit card sales at $50 per transaction. Pain in the butt if you drive a big vehicle that takes $70 to fill up.

  7. I have been to the filling station where fuel was $3.82, a sign  directed me inside to pay first. There stood a very dark looking owner, with large signs in front of him : $2.00 charge for using Credit card, while he was on the cell phone.  He wanted cash for gas. I am not about to carry cash for fuel purchases. While a few thoughts passed through my mind..... I managed to politly say  "No, Thank you" and left to another Service station ahead, and found fuel at $3.80 and no problem with charging at all.  I pay my charge Card in full, and think this was a Scam. Should we try to negotiate with this kind of person ... I will pay $2.00 if I can get the fuel for 3.25 ?

  8. Not many people really consider the cost of credit card.

Another interesting note though, the gas station pays a fee for credit card transactions.  I have read that this fee is starting to get bigger than their profit than the gas.  Some gas stations are actually losing money selling higher priced gas if the gas is bought with a credit card.

Supposedly, stores cannot charge a fee to customers to use a credit card.  It is in their agreement with the credit card company.  However, I have seen signs up posting a different rate for gas bought with a card.
