  1. I would not necessarily go with the ship's excursion.  You can go there on your own, in a taxi.  This is one beautiful, place not to be missed.

  2. i just got back from a cruise with carnival 2 days ago and we did go to atlantis, we didnt book through the boat however because it was a party 9 and that would have been a little pricy. we got off the boat and found a guy to take us to atlantis for cheaper than the boat. however when we got to atlantis we ended up spending the money to use the slides and beaches and it is WAY  worth it! we had a great time. i highly recomend you do the atlantis excursion!!

  3. Atlantis is great.! Depends what the ships tours give you, what you want to do when there and their cost. We went independantly. When you get off the ship walk to the taxi rank, only a short distance. It only cost us $4.+ tips the same coming back and taxis are right outside the Hotel.  You can wander around quite a bit, the place and grounds are very big.  When in the hotel you can buy a ticket $32 per adult to go through the "Dig" a maze of passages under the lagoon with big windows so you can see marine life and ruins, amazing!  The $32 does not allow access to pools or beaches though, but there is plenty else, incl: restaurants even Nobu. Whichever way you go we thought it well worth it.

Enjoy.   It was one of the very few good things about our awful cruise on Royal Caribbean.
