  1. I don't know how your teacher will go about it, but there's a lot to consider when preparing your syllabus.

I do take into consideration the ages, the length of class, etc.

I usually start with Introduction to Theatre. The kinds of performing spaces/stages (Arena, Proscenium, Thrust, Theatre in the round, etc)

    Theatre terms

Then I always start the class with warm-ups: breathing exercises, movement, vocals.

    Theatre games:

warm-up games (Memory Games, Freeze-Tag, Explosion Tag, Reverse Charades, etc)

observation games (Mirror, Zigzag, Three changes)

body movements (entrances and exits, stand-walk-stand, etc)

listening games/improv (conductor's story, three-person story, the oracle, etc)

ensemble games (the machine, sculpture, give and take, the hotspot, etc.)

    a lot more exercises...

Towards the end we go into realism. We study Stanislavski, Strasberg, Meisner, Adler.

We do some affective memory exercises.

    Masks.

    Scene studies.

You have nothing to worry about! I'm sure you'll be great!

  2. well it really depends on the teacher and the school that you go to. when i took intro. we learned the all about the theater like different types of stages and terms and stuff. your class might also do little skits or something. it really just depends.

  3. Like they^^ said.

At my school, they don' have an "Intro to Theatre" class.  They only have Drama and Stagecraft.

But yeah, I'm guessing you'll learn the basics: terminology, types of stages, a little bit of scenery/lighting/sound, and a little bit of acting.

Don't worry.  If your school is anything like mine, the theatre people are the nicest and friendliest people I have ever met.  ;)

  4. it depends on the teacher/school

    for me

we like played some theatre games

    did that mirror exercise.

then after a few weeks, she gave us a partner and scene to act out we rehearsed for the rest of the last weeks we were there then preformed it in front of an audience.

my stupid a** partner didn't show up so i had to do it with the teacher =(
