I might take the class next year, and some people have said that it wasn't that hard...but I'm not sure!

  1. It all depends on the teacher you have, how hard you work, and a little bit on your natural ability.

I love history and had a fantastic teacher.  So the course was fairly easy for me.  He had us start timed essays in September, so it wasn't hard to write the essays on the AP test in May - we'd been praticing way harder questions all year.  The AP test itself is something you have to prepare for.  Like one of my essay questions was "Other than slavery, what were 3 causes of the Civil War?"  So you have to study and really know the material to do well.

I ended up with a 4, which was (is?) good.  Overall, I really liked AP history.

  2. I didn't take the class, but I did take the test and it was cake!

  3. The class is not too hard, but the test is. You have to memorize a lot of things, people, places, dates, and their effect on everything from politics to the economy and future events. You have to study really hard to pass the test. I didn't pass it either.

  4. YES it is hard...but maybe it depends in the teacher you have...but you have to study alot for the test remember a lot of dates and stuff...and u also have to write 3 essays...and they time you...it is hard i didnt pass so i took the class 4 nuding

  5. If you are a history person, or you are a strong writer, take this class-- if you aren't, please don't, it would be a huge waste of your time. I just took it this past year, and I am mediocre in history but fairly adept at writing; I did well on the exam (which was difficult, and is comprised of two Free Response questions and a Document Based question where you analyze 12 documents and write a response based off a prompt) but many of my classmates failed to pass, and our school is known for a very high pass rate on AP exams.

Among all of the AP exams, it is one of the most popular, and you should be able to find many resources online and in book stores to help you if you struggle. At some colleges it is seen as a 'staple' of any high-achieving student's resume, like AP English courses. Try it for a few days if you think it might be a good fit - if you don't like it, you can always drop it.
