  1. Flaxseed oil by itself does not make you lose weight.

Flaxseed oil as a healthy fat consumed within a calorie deficit diet and coupled with resistance training and aerobic style exercise will achieve a goal of fat loss.

  2. It is a good choice to have in your diet.  It is a very healthy fat with omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids.

  3. Please review the website listed so that you know the cautions of taking it. There are also articles on these websites

  4. Aim for about a tablespoon a day, but do so in place of other fats - cut out mayo and butter etc.  You can't add too much fat to your diet and lose weight.

  5. I bought some liquid flaxseed oil b/c I read it's good for hair and skin.

I looked at the nutrition contents and there is a LOT of fat in this stuff.

I want to say like 25 grams of fat in a tablespoon.  So I don't see how you could lose weight with it.  I never take it b/c of the fat content.

  6. if you're trying to lose weight you should really give Acai Berry a shot! i saw it on oprah and i'm trying it myself right now.. got a 14-day FREE trial from this site!

  7. Hello,

I prefer to take flax seeds rather than just the oil because it gives you extra fiber, and they supposedly hold onto a lot of water which helps decrease your appetite.  For that very reason, you should make sure you drink a lot of water when using them.

If you use flax seeds, it is best to either buy milled flax seeds or to grind them up yourself in a blender or coffee grinder and keep them in the fridge.

They will keep longer whole, so I only grind up a couple of cups at a time.  The un-milled seeds won't be properly digested because many will pass through the digestive tract whole.

    So, why take them?

They have a great combination of lignans, protein, fiber, healthy omega 3 fats and Alpha linolenic acid which is often taken by body builders, vitamins, and minerals.

They have shown to be good for the heart, and to help prevent and even reduce cancer cells.

I use about 3 tablespoons of the ground seeds (for the oil, I think it's 1 tablespoon equivalent) in my morning kefir and fruit smoothie.  This breakfast gives me energy and keeps me satisfied for a few hours, which is saying a lot for me.

I've only been using them for a couple of weeks, and I haven't really lost weight- well, to be fair, I have lost 2 lbs. over several weeks, but I do feel better and my skin has been clearing up.  I haven't been following any diet.

I think over the long term it could help.

The fats aren't really a concern because they are omega 3's which are often referred to as the "anti-fats."  They help increase metabolism, help with muscle synthesis, and eventually with fat loss.

I wish I had been using them longer to be able to help confirm with more conviction, but I have heard from people who have used them and they have helped them to lose weight and feel better.

In the long run, I do believe they are very beneficial for your body, so even if they didn't help with weight loss, I think they are overall very a beneficial, inexpensive addition to anyone's diet.

  8. It has to do with lowering heart disease likelihood. Not weight loss.
