My Hubby and I purchased a cruise on the Norwegian Pearl to Alaska for my In-Law's 50th anniversary. They both need scooters to get around (just recently both of them, Daddy has declined rapidly in mobility last month or so). How does it work? where are they stored? Advice?

Much Appreciated

  1. Go to cruiseaddicts.com. Go to the forum "Community" and scroll down to AFT DECK. Every day there will be a posting labled Maw and Paw's office. Both Maw and Paw cruise several times a year with scooters. You can post questions for them there.

  2. also ask norwegian on their customer service line about your needs.

    and also your travel agent.

  3. I have not taken or used a scooter on a cruise ship but I have seen many passengers on several cruise ships using them.  You should contact NCL to make sure the cabin that you have purchased is accessible.  The cruise lines to takes steps to accommodate people with disabilities; also ask any questions about the scooter.  Cruise ships accommodate scooters very well because they have elevators that go to all of the floors.  I have seen scooters all over the ships in public areas like the dining rooms, the show rooms, the casino, the pool deck and even the walking/jogging track.  But I have not seen where they scooters are stored at night.  My guess is in the cabin with the passenger.  You may need to ask the staff to remove a regular chair so the scooter can stay in the cabin.

I know that I have seen people arrive in the dining room by scooter and get out/off of it and sit in a chair and the scooter remained close by out of the walk ways.  I have also seen people arrive at the gangway to depart or board the ship and the ship's staff assisted them in getting off and on.
