Has anyone taken the Life Only California Insurance exam?

I am taking my on the 29th and I have finished the book that my job gave me in order to pass it. My question is, how long is the test (life only) and how many questions? Also if I studied but NOT too hard because I do work 2 jobs currently, how likely would it be that I pass?

Would studying for two weeks be sufficient?

  1. I concur with car253 above me.

In January, I took the Mike Russ one week class to prepare for the Fire and Casualty license and I passed it on the first try.  They make it fun to learn and have catch phrases they use to help you remember things.

Then, when I found out health companies required a life only along with fire and casualty to be appointed when them, I decided to do the online Mike Russ class - and while I passed the life only test - but the difference was astounding.  I was sure I flunked the life only and wished I had gone to the class.

  2. mrxalex319, Life insurance is actually very flexible. Since I'm from New York I'm not familiar with the California regulations, so I recommend you call a nearby life insurance agent. http://www.usinsuranceadvisor.com/Life-I... They will be able to help you.

  3. Your work gave you a book?   Did you do the 52 hour course the Dept of Insurance requires?    I am assuming that you did or you would not have a test date with them.

I took my test so many years ago, before computers that I just remember the questions made no sense even for those that know insurance.  Hopefully that has changed.

Anyways, my best advice is to pay for the one day prep course that many schools offer.   My favorite school is Mike Russ.  They offer a one day prep course that helps you pass the test.  They go over the questions and only the right answers so you remember the right answer and not the wrong ones.    If you really want to pass you have to go.   I do not work for them but they did a great job for me.
