  1. I have ridden the thruway bus to connect with an Amtrak train.  I had about a three hour ride on the way to connect with my train, and a three hour ride at the end of the train trip to get me back to where I booked my ticket from.  I felt that the bus was pretty nice, comparatively speaking - MUCH better than Greyhound.  They have little footrests and stuff.  Lots of elderly people on the bus that I took, and it was fully booked both ways, so just be prepared to have a seatmate, but all in all, it's a pretty good ride.

  2. The good thing about Thruway is that it's restricted to people that are travelling on Amtrak.  So it's less crowded and cleaner.  Also, since it's considered a train route, you can't miss the train because the bus was late.

  3. It's a bus. It's not very exciting. It gets you from A to B, nothing more. Don't expect much, if anything.

At least you're guaranteed that the bus (or some form of transport) will wait for the train, no matter how late the train is.
