  1. The use of alcohol or the abrupt discontinuation of alcohol, should be avoided in patients taking zyban. Either alcohol abuse or abrupt discontinuation of alcohol has been associated with seizures and fatalities, and may increase the risk of seizures and/or neuropsychiatric events with the zyban treatment.
