The data is showing us something else or is NOAA part of the vast right wing oil companies too?

Yep we had a trended up and now it looks like it peaked and coming back down.

How much longer are we going to be told the end is near?

  1. The accepted definition of climate (scientifically speaking) is the average of weather over a 30 year period.  I know that hard for people without some math training to understand, but surely people realize that 3 months or even 3 years is insignificant on that time scale?

If you read this article, maybe you'll understand that continued warming or cooling won't be known until a something statistically significant (i.e. more than normal weather noise) happens:

  2. Weather can overcome global warming for a short time.  It happened in 1982, 1991-1992, 1999-2000.  EVERY TIME global warming came back stronger than ever.  Proof.

As long as we keep making greenhouse gases in enormous amounts, global warming will dominate in the long run.  It's simple physics.

  3. GW makes a good excuse to charge U 3 prices for your gasoline.

  4. Didn't you know? NOAA is one of the 'maverick' scientific groups under the thumb of Big Oil.

    LMAO

  5. Bro...  Global warming nuts will pick and choose what they want that specifically perpetuates their perceptions...   Don't worry about it....  They have been disproven time and time again.  They will not be convinced even as they are surrounded by igloos... lol

Did you watch Gore's movie?  They made a huge argument about how the Greenland Ice Caps are melting....  Of course even Gore is too dumb or slept through history when the part about how Greenland got it's name...  Yea, it use to have NO ICE and was about as mild as the United States' Great Plains area....  But, he got uneducated people convinced and now they are even claiming to be scientists....

I know I was cold last night, my coffee was cold and I was working the streets.....  So, don't worry about convincing the brainwashed..  But very funny how the NOAA documented the Coldest Winter on record...  That just adds to the laughter...  I need to invite a few of these guys to some of our parties for entertainment.

The combined global land and ocean surface temperature was the 16th warmest on record for the December 2007-February 2008 period (0.58°F/0.32°C above the 20th century mean of 53.8°F/12.1°C). The presence of a moderate-to-strong La Niña contributed to an average temperature that was the coolest since the La Niña episode of 2000-2001.

While analyses of the causes of the severe winter storms in southern China continues, NOAA Earth System Research Laboratory scientists are focusing on the presence of unusually strong, persistent high pressure over Eastern Europe, combined with low pressure over Southwest Asia. This pattern directed a series of storms across the region, while northerly low level flow introduced cold air from Mongolia. Unusually high water temperatures in the China Sea may have triggered available moisture that enhanced the severity of these storms.

Record Northern Hemisphere snow cover extent in January was followed by above average snow cover for the month of February. Unusually high temperatures across much of the mid- and high-latitude areas of the Northern Hemisphere in February began reducing the snow cover, and by the end of February, snow cover extent was below average in many parts of the hemisphere.

While there has been little trend in snow cover extent during the winter season since records began in the late 1960s, spring snow cover extent has been sharply lower in the past two decades as global temperatures have increased.

What the heck are you talking about?

  7. Please look up the definitions of these two words:

    Weather

    Climate

The NOAA knows their definitions already.

  8. Yes.  They say here that last winter was the coldest since 2001, but very warm (16th) compared to all previous winters that we have records for.  They also say we got a lot of snow in North America because it was a La Nina year, which is usually the case in La Nina years.  So the steady upward trend continues-- according to NOAA.

" In the contiguous United States, the average winter temperature was 33.2°F (0.6°C), which was 0.2°F (0.1°C) above the 20th century average – yet still ranks as the coolest since 2001. It was the 54th coolest winter since national records began in 1895 "
