My baby is due on the 25th October and I fly back to the UK from NZ on the 22nd December. My Doctor and mid wife have both said that this is fine as the baby at that age will just sleep and feed anyway. Has anyone else done a flight with a 2 month year old and were there any issues with this?

  1. I flew from Brisbane to Belgium, a 24 hour flight which included a sixteen hour stopover in China when my son was two and a half months old. He slept most of the way but I still had to walk him up and down the aisles several times. Other than that there were no real issues except for the usual wind/gas pains that I'd brought medicine for.

I'd recommend giving your baby a dummy or bottle/breastfeed during take off and landing because of the changes in air pressure and before you fly check with the airlines about their rules on the amount of formula/bottled water/medicines you can bring on the plane with you. A bassinet is usually provided on the plane for the baby and a baby carrier is handy during stopovers.

Also don't worry about bothering other people on the plane if your baby cries, most people are very understanding about it and those who aren't, well, it's not like you're going to see them again after the flight. Good luck!
