My husband is on his way to Costa Rica and will be driving through El Salvador. I am really worried from bad stories that I've heard. If anyone knows any info or has experienced the drive through El Salvador, please send any information. Would like to know also how long it takes. thanks.

  1. yea i have ..... where u need to go?

  2. I've driven from Guatemala to Honduras non-stop in about 8 1/2 hours.  The drive is not bad at all and most people that speak of horror stories have never experienced them themselves and have never met someone who has.  In other words, it's just hearsay.

That being said, a little bit of caution is always in order, no matter where you are traveling.  Stick to the main highways.  Don't carry huge amounts of cash.  Do carry small bills.  Follow traffic rules even if others seem to ignore them.  Judge the traffic and those around you and drive accordingly.

  3. Ive rented a car in Salvi when I visited there. What an expirience? I dont think you should worry about much, driving through it, on the CA-1 or 2. But do keep the doors locked, and  you might want to carry sometype of small map while in the capital, the CA-1  cuts off and it sux trying to get back on track. Good Luck!!
