I would love to go but i'm worried it might be a little hard giving i'll be on my own and I don't speak farsi?

Is there anything close to a youth hostel where I might meet like minded travellers.

  1. no and never plan to go becase there is too much violence over there.

  2. The best method is to prepare your trip through a travel agency. There are many & you can get more info through the Iranian embassy in your counry of residence. Travel alone only if you already know people in Iran otherwise I would not recommand it merely because you will miss out on loads to see and experience.;-)

The second point- just to correct you- the language is called Persian or Parsi if you insist- and not Farsi. And you do not need to speak it at all as a tourist since Iranian people are very friendly towards foreigners and many do speak enough English to assist you.;-)

To all the misguided people who said Iran is dangerous. lol...Iran is not dangerous at all. It is very safe. Foreign visitors are welcomed and not harrassed. I would say that the most dangerous places in the Middle East are currently Iraq and Israel. So please refrain from travelling there.;-p

Otherwise Good Luck and have a great trip;-)

  3. Iran is a great country with many exciting tourist attractions .if you are coming to Iran you need at least a month to go around .

the best idea is applying for your visa through a travel agency .

traveling as a group would help u to have everything arranged for you but you can go around on your own . fall (Oct-Dec) is a good time because summer can be very hot .

definitely it will be a different experience for a foreigner ( women wearing scarves , no clubs , no alcohol ) but i can assure you it is a safe country .

  4. You are able to visit Iraq however there is no direct carrier from the United states to Iran. I would recommend learning some language, the country side is beautiful however there might be some hostility with the current conflict with the west down there

  5. Man,I am Iranian and i live here in Iran.who says there is violence here?Believe me Iran is one of the safest countries in the world with wonderful places to visit!we are a historic country and lots of green places !we do have some awesome beaches too!and about Persian, none of the tourists that come here, speak Farsi, English is an international language which is understood every where even here in Iran!and it is also one of the cheapest countries in the world, especially for tourists!we are waiting for all of you and we will welcome you so warmly that you won't forget it!every one who has come to Iran at least for one time, confesses it!

p.s:if you need help on Farsi, I can somehow help you, you can easily e-mail me or get access to my 360 account!

  6. ya. it was awesome. some people who r stupid like the first person and thinks its "violence" is wrong and thinks america is going to kick there a s s. america cant beat iraq what about iran that 5x of iraq

  7. Yes I have. Not speaking farsi is not a problem at all. When I went there, I just had a small book to learn the basics like (how much is this, where, when...etc) you can use your English too. Iran receives a lot of turists every year from all around the world. It has so many beautiful places.

For the lady who said there is a lot of violence over there: I think there is more violence in your country itself. Please do not let the media affect your mind. Iran is very peaceful and don't judge before you go there. It's very safe. Have a nice trip bro

  8. Who do you think we are vampires or monsters walking in the streets with swords in hands?????????

  9. Seems to be getting a little harder to travel around unless you are part of an organised group.  I was not successful when I applied for a visa last year - word was that the new foreign minister is not so keen on people wandering about, especially if it is suspected that their governments have been sneakily doing the reprehensible with the local malcontents...  As to safety, there are 12 million people in Tehran.  Some of them have been known to acquire drug habits and covet their neighbours wallets and stuff.
