Has anyone travelled with and infant to the Dominican Republic?

I have a cousin getting married in Punta Cana a the Majestic Colonial in September. My son will be 10 months old then, and I have a lot of family going for this trip. I have heard malaria is a concern down there now, but then I have also heard it isn't really that prominant at all. Our other concern is hurricane season. Anyone have thoughts on this? Would be appreciated to hear from someone who has stayed there before with a baby!

I went last August and my daughter was only  5 months and my son 16 mos old. We did not have any health issues. About malaria and stuff like that you dont have to worry about, if you are going for a wedding most likely you will be in very good areas. Just by bottled water for drinking. You should be fine. Enjoy and have fun in one of the most beautiful Caribbean islands.

Malaria????? Dear this is not Africa !!! This stories is coming from ignorant people (or jealous). The infant as to be taken well care off during the plane trip ( food and clothing)

for the rest of the stay at the resort you will have to be care full of the temperature and that the baby doesn't have problems with food change reactions.

But you can do the trip without problems, hurricanes ? only 1 out 100 % so go to the wedding and enjoy it.

Malaria?  Never heard of that, but dengue.  Dengue is a real concern because is transmitted by a mosquito bite too, but with a can of OFF you can solve your problem.   Is very difficult to anticipate a hurricane, but hotels will manage the situation very well (call the hotel and ask for contingency plans).  In the event of a real hurricane threat you will have  plenty of time to take an airplane back to your home.  Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy an explendid vacation time with your family.
