I have seen advertisements for it in magazines but I haven't been. Tell me of your experiences.

  1. I went to the one in Austin this past Valentine's day and I thought it was great!  Very nice atmosphere for anything from a group outting to a quite family dinner to a date. I've been to another brazilian steakhouse with the same basic concept but I enjoyed the food at Fogo a lot more over all.  The cuts of meat were all delicious and there is a self-service salad bar, and I believe three side items and a basket of bread/rolls that they bring to the table for you and bring you more once you're running low. The service is phenomenal; as soon as I would turn my card over to the green side, there would literally be someone at our table within 30 seconds asking if I wanted the cut of meat that server had and another one would appear right after that one.  That's how good the service was and this was for dinner on Valentine's day so it was full.  It's a really neat and different experience!

  2. Not Close To Me. (Florida)...!!

  3. Yes, I've been to the one in downtown Chicago (actually its in River North, just north of the Loop).

Its a great place to go with a group, because its the theatricality, the experience of it all, that is interesting.  The food is good, very good actually, but eating there is about "the event".

They have a large self-service salad and side dish bar.  Then they come around the tables with an astonishing variety of grilled meats, all on giant skewers.

The food is based on Brazilian and Argentinian steak houses. I wouldn't go there on a date, but with a group its great fun!
