Question:

Has anyone tried INDOOR cat repellent spray? Has it worked?

I am trying to get my cat from peeing behind our Television Entertainment Center. She didn't do it for a long long long time (about 6 months!). I had the spot so clean and smelling like a summer's breeze -- clean. I thought it was all better until...we got a new kitten.

The next day, my cat is up to her old antics, peeing behind the TV again.

I know it is because she's mad at me about the kitten.

But, I was wondering if anyone has tried the cat repellent spray.

I am thinking of spraying a throw rug with the spray and putting it behind the TV.

Who has tried it? Success or none?

***I am not trying to use it outdoors.

  1. I tried it and the electronic animal chaser and nether seemed to work for my cat. She was trying to cover up the smell of a previous animal and I wnated to keep her away from this particular spot.

  2. s***w spray products...they tend to be toxic and gross.

    Get a small squirt-gun.

When the cat goes behind there for any reason, chase her out with the squirt gun.

    Refill and repeat.

  3. Unless you used bleach or a product that is proven to extinguish the strong odor of cat urine your cat can still smell it. I used a product that was all natural. When my cat peed i will clean it up with a paper towel then put the product where she peed and let it air dry. It worked. I can't remember the name of the product. Try calling your vet and ask if they have anything for that, if they don't ask where you can get it. I got mine from Petsmart.

No cat but friend says it works.

  5. i use one of those sprays to try to keep them from scratchign the couch... the problem is that (the one i boguht anyway) needs to be resprayed EVERY DAY.  i obviously forget to do this everyday and then they are right back scratching the couch.  but when i put it on, they stay away so i guess it does work. you just need to keep doing it.

and yes, she's just mad about the kitten i think.

  6. don't put a rug back there - it will hold in the urine.  Just spray the cat NO! back there every other day.  Also, you should have a litter box for each cat in the house - and make sure they are cleaned out daily and the litter is replaced when the waste is taken out.  Do not put additives in it, cats don't like the smell - plain old baking soda works fine.  Also make sure there is enough litter in there, ideally there should be 3-4 inches in each box.

Your cat may indeed be ticked about the new cat, but it also might be from the kitten using the litterbox too, and now there is twice the waste in there.  Did you slowly introduce them - like through a door for a few days.  It's a proven technique to help the cats make a smoother transition and only takes about 3-5 days.
