I am NOT going to go out and try it. Don't worry. I'm just curious...was doing some research online- What is it like to HEAR a color or SEE a sound???

  1. In my youth, I tried LSD probably twenty times. Some experiences were fascinating and fun, and others were completely terrifying! That said, I never experienced synesthesia, or a state of mixed perception where I heard colors or saw sounds. LSD is simply one of those chemicals whose effects lack an adequate description, in my opinion.

I'll give you an example of a good experience and a bad experience. Try not to laugh, please.

Good experience: approximately 2 hours after taking a dose of LSD, I ventured into an almost completely darkened bathroom, with only a sliver of light leaking from under the door. I stared into the mirror, and began to see tiny blobs of light flying past me from a central point. It felt like I was flying through space at a rapid speed, both physically and mentally. It was completely amazing!

When I left the bathroom, me and my friend (tripping also) listened to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. Somehow, while looking straight ahead, I felt the top of my head come off like a hinged trapdoor. Then, looking through the top of my head, the roof of the house came off, and night turned to day. I watched a non-existent plane flying in circles and making the noise of 100 different planes. Suffice it say, it was totally mind-blowing, and left me questioning to this day just what the human mind is capable of seeing.

Bad experience: Same friend, same house, a couple months later. Around 2 hours into the experience, I went outside to smoke a cigarette. I started thinking about how bad smoking was, and that led to me "seeing" my lungs as burnt, crumpled, tar-coated paper grocery sacks. I started panicking, sweating, heart racing, high fever (probably imagined these physical effects!) and began to wonder if I would be insane forever and needed to go to the hospital. My friend had the same fears for himself, minus the lung thing. After we came down from the trip, I never smoked again. It had made me that averse to cigarettes.

Make no mistake, LSD is by far the most powerful drug I've ever tried, and it is to be treated with the utmost respect, just as the human psyche is. It's simply too powerful to be addicting. That said, it's been years since I've done it, and I don't think I ever will again, as I learned all I wanted to learn from it. I've never had a "flashback," either. I found Psilocybin to be a much less mentally demanding and more enlightening experience, though I ceased using any drug, legal or illegal, 8 years ago.

  2. IT's sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...  Much fun.  If you have a strong mind, and are pure in heart and soul.

  3. I did taste colors on my first trip. E.g., I got on a bus & as it sped up, it tasted like peppermint. As it slowed down, it tasted more like chocolate.
